Almond Oil for Babies

Cold-pressed almond oil has a mild taste which makes it perfect for preparing light food, for a bland diet and especially suitable for babies and toddlers. The precious oil is not only great for cooking but also for baby care. Generally, not every cold-pressed skin care oil should be used for the sensitive skin of a baby because some oils have a very intense aroma by nature, e.g. argan oil. But thanks to its mild and natural aroma, almond oil is very popular in baby care as it said to be non-irritant and therefore often recommened by midwifes.

Skin-protecting effects of almond oil

Due to its particular mildness and soothing properties, almond oil has been used in skin and baby care for centuries. It absorbs well and has hydrating and skin-protecting effects. As skin care oil for babies and toddlers, it is particularly appreciated for its good tolerance. In addition, almond oil is very moisturizing and leaves a soft and tender skin feeling on sensitive baby skin. It also gives long-lasting moisture if applied to dry or brittle skin areas. Furthermore, it is suitable for daily skin care, as massage or bath oil.

Origin and production of almond oil

At Ölmühle Solling, we produce our organic almond oil by cold-pressing of ripe drupes only. Almonds have an elongated, egg-like shape and a thick, leathery, grey-green coat. There are two types of almonds, sweet and bitter. Only sweet almonds can be used for the production of edible oils. Almond trees can be found in warm and temperate zones like Spain or Sicily. This is also where the almonds for our cold-pressed almond oil stem from.

Storage and durability

If stored in ideal conditions, i.e. tightly closed, UV-protected and at temperatures between 10 and 20 °C, almond oil has a shelf life of up to 12 months. An opened bottle of almond oil should be consumed within 3 to 4 months.
