Our Golden Milk Spice Blend is a powdered blend of carefully selected organic herbal ingredients. It contains ground turmeric root, aromatic Ceylon cinnamon, ginger, spicy nutmeg, cardamom and a hint of black pepper. The combination of these precious spices makes Golden Milk not only invigorating and vitalising, but also exceptionally spicy and aromatic.
What is Golden Milk? Golden Milk, also known as turmeric latte, is a popular hot drink in Ayurvedic medicine. The valuable ingredients are gently produced in raw food quality. Preparation is simple: mix one teaspoon (about 4g) of powder with 200ml of warm, frothed oat or almond milk. Mix with honey, agave syrup or coconut sugar to taste. The powder also goes well with freshly squeezed orange juice or smoothies. It can also be added to a breakfast bowl of yoghurt and fresh fruit.
Golden yellow and spicy: the turmeric root
What makes Golden Milk so special is its turmeric content. Originating in the Far East, turmeric has been part of the spice cabinet for thousands of years and is better known in this country as a spice in South-East Asian dishes. While ginger is best known for its intense and pungent flavour, turmeric root tastes milder and less intense in comparison, and differs from the visually similar ginger root mainly due to its spicier flavour. The golden yellow powder of turmeric root is said to have many beneficial properties in Ayurvedic cuisine, including an anti-inflammatory effect.
Different ways to prepare it
The popular golden milk is traditionally made from plant-based drinks such as oat milk or almond milk. Alternatively, soy milk can be used. Cow's milk is not recommended. Most recipes recommend adding one teaspoon of almond oil per cup.
If you want to add an exotic touch to your Golden Milk, you can substitute a spoonful of coconut oil or one of our sweet almond spice oils for the almond oil: Cinnamon Almond Spice Oil or Vanilla Almond Spice Oil.
The powder mix is also great in juices and smoothies.
