Millenarium extra virgin olive oil is made from olives from thousand-year-old olive trees in Cannavà in Calabria (Italy). This limited edition olive oil is based on the ottobratica olive variety. Each of these valuable products contains a piece of history and tradition.
Ottobratica olive variety: grassy and harmonious
The characteristic aroma of the ottobratica variety has nuances of fresh field grass, golden apple, unripe tomato and wild thistle. The taste is vegetal, with a harmonious, bitter and spicy aftertaste. The green-picked olives give the delicacy an aromatic balance. The extra virgin olive oil is characterized by a fruity profile.
Olive oil from Italy: limited editions
Each bottle of the precious oil is unique with its own number - it is not only delivered in elegant outer packaging, but also with an exclusive greeting from the Anastasi family. With the Millenarium project, Antonello Anastasi, founder of Mediterranea Foods and owner of the family business, wants to protect the old trees on the farm from being cut down.

Millennia-old olive trees
The millennia-old olive trees are much more than just suppliers of exquisite oil. The trees on the estate in Cannavà are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Their hollows provide shelter for insects, birds and small mammals, thus contributing to local biodiversity. The roots of the trees help prevent soil erosion thanks to their ability to grow deep roots. They are also resistant to harsh environmental conditions such as drought. The large olive trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere - much more than a small, young tree. The production of Millenarium extra virgin olive oil is therefore more than just saving and protecting olive trees that are difficult to preserve and maintain. It also means carrying on the history of the place.
A company with a history
The history of the company, which is now run by the third generation of the Anastasi family and can look back on almost 40 years of experience in organic farming, is rooted in a love of the land and tradition. Mediterranea Foods uses state-of-the-art production methods and selected raw materials. The basic principle is respect for nature and its inhabitants.
Usage
The olive oil is ideal with leafy salads such as rocket or lamb's lettuce as well as Mediterranean dishes such as ratatouille, vegetables, tapas and soups. It is also ideal with fresh baguettes, cheese and antipasti. It also enhances cold and hot dishes that are typical of Mediterranean cuisine.
