Castor Oil Skin Care Oil

Castor oil is a real all-rounder when it comes to skin and hair care. It moisturises and is known for its antioxidant properties. Cold pressed castor oil protects skin and hair from environmental damage. It also nourishes eyelashes, eyebrows and nails.

Castor oil is extracted from the seeds of the castor oil plant (Ricinus communis). It is also known as ricinus oil. Castor oil is viscous and colourless to pale yellow. It differs from other oils mainly in that it is more viscous. This is because up to 90% of the oil is ricinoleic acid, a triglyceride.

For the skin

The oil has moisturising properties and can help with skin problems such as scaly skin or scars. It is the perfect addition to your beauty routine. It can also be added to existing skin care products.

For the hair

Castor oil nourishes damaged hair and dry scalp, adding shine and suppleness. It can be used as an additive to shampoos or as a hair treatment. Massaging a few drops onto the scalp is also beneficial. Used regularly, it repairs damaged hair and helps to strengthen it.

For eyelashes and eyebrows

Castor oil gently conditions and adds shine to eyelashes and eyebrows. We recommend using it overnight so that the durability of make-up such as mascara is not affected during the day. Castor oil is said to promote the growth of eyelashes and eyebrows. In fact, castor oil often makes hair appear shinier and darker, but castor oil does not actively affect hair growth.

For the nails

Brittle nails and cracked cuticles can benefit from the use of castor oil. Used regularly, the oil can strengthen the nails, making it ideal for treating brittle or dry nails. At the same time, it moisturises the nail bed, making the cuticles smoother.

For skin care

• Apply a few drops of castor oil to the face.
• Massaging gently with circular movements
• Leave on overnight if necessary.
• Remove excess oil with a cloth or pad.

As a hair treatment

• Wash hair with a mild shampoo.
• Apply a few drops of castor oil to towel-dried hair and massage gently into scalp.
• Leave on for two hours or overnight.
• Rinse hair thoroughly with shampoo.

Tip: Castor oil can also be mixed with coconut oil in a 3:1 ratio.

For eyelashes and eyebrows

• Apply the oil to eyelashes and eyebrows with an eyelash brush.
• Leave on overnight.
• Remove the remaining oil with a cloth or pad in the morning.

Tip: Castor oil can be used with olive oil as an eyelash and eyebrow serum. It can also be added to mascara to condition lashes.

For nail care

• Apply the oil to the nails with a small brush, such as an unused toothbrush.
• Leave on for about 30 minutes.
• Remove excess oil with a cloth or pad.
