Hemp Protein as a source of protein and fibre
Our hemp protein is carefully produced from organically grown hemp seeds in raw food quality. Its high protein content of around 50g per 100g makes it an ideal addition to the daily diet of bodybuilders and athletes. It is also highly recommended for vegetarians and vegans as an ideal substitute for animal protein sources. Hemp Protein is also a good source of fibre due to its hemp protein content. Hemp Protein is vegan and lactose-free. It is also free from preservatives, colourings and flavourings. The hemp seeds from which our hemp protein is made are naturally gluten free. However, we cannot technically guarantee that it is 100% gluten free (<0.5mg). The protein may contain traces of cereals that contain gluten.
Origin and history
Hemp, with its distinctive leaves, is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world and is native to Central Asia. It was cultivated in Europe shortly after its discovery. The active ingredient tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) has made hemp famous as a narcotic but also as a medicinal plant. Today many varieties with low THC content are cultivated, especially in Europe there are many varieties that are almost free of THC. At Ölmühle Solling we use one of these varieties of hemp from controlled organic cultivation for the production of hemp oil, hemp flour and our hemp protein. Our range also includes untreated, unpeeled hemp seeds.
Hemp protein contains valuable hemp oil
The average residual content of valuable hemp oil in the protein powder is 12g per 100g. It has an optimal ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids of 3:1. The content of polyunsaturated fatty acids makes our hemp protein a high quality and valuable ingredient for health conscious connoisseurs.
Hemp protein and its ideal amino acid profile
The protein is not only valuable because of its content of hemp protein and polyunsaturated fatty acids: the protein-rich powder can do even more: a real special feature is its amino acid profile, which is ideal for the human body. The body needs protein to build muscle. The proteins in our hemp protein powder contain all the essential amino acids in an ideal ratio. They are easily absorbed and utilised by the body.
Usage
With a mild and nutty taste, our hemp protein is ideal for making protein shakes and bars, and for enriching smoothies. It can also be used to make protein bread, pancakes or brownies. Tip: When baking, it combines well with hulled or unhulled hemp seeds.
We recommend a daily intake of approximately 30g of hemp protein.
Once opened, the protein powder should be used quickly and always stored in a cool, dark place away from oxygen.
