Black cumin seeds

Our organic black cumin oil from gentle cold pressing is an ideal feed supplement for dogs and horses. The oil can have a positive effect on metabolic processes and the appearance of the skin and coat in the event of feed-related deficiencies. Black cumin (Nigella sativa) belongs to the buttercup family, the plant is not related to caraway. The seeds of the plant are small, angular and, as the name suggests, black. Our black cumin seed oil is cold-pressed from Egyptian organic black cumin seeds at temperatures below 40 degrees.

Organic black cumin seed oil as a healthy feed additive

Black cumin seed oil is highly valued as a high-quality edible oil for humans. It is used to prepare salads, dips and oriental dishes as well as for skin care. The oil, which is produced during cold pressing, is also a high-quality feed supplement for your dog or horse. In veterinary medicine, it is mainly used for asthma and respiratory diseases. Black cumin oil provides indirect protection against ticks and insects. Cold pressing at temperatures below 40 °C preserves the valuable ingredients in their best form. The native black cumin oil is free from additives and contains valuable unsaturated fatty acids, especially the essential, diunsaturated linoleic acid.

The oil can have a positive effect on dogs and horses with feed-related deficiency symptoms on

  • metabolic processes,
  • the coat change,

have an effect.

Black cumin oil for dogs

Alongside cats, dogs are one of the most popular pets in Germany. A balanced diet also plays an important role for furry friends. Oils such as hemp oil, evening primrose oil, black cumin oil and linseed oil can be fed to dogs as a healthy supplement.

Black cumin oil is recommended at every stage of a dog's life. Even as a puppy, a dog can be given around 1 ml per kg of body weight of black cumin oil mixed into its food every day. Even during the development of a young dog, black cumin oil can have a positive effect on the immune system and protect against ticks . Adult dogs under 5 kg body weight are given around 5 ml per day. Larger dogs, from 5 kg, can be given 10 ml of black cumin oil

Black cumin oil for barfing

Barfen is a type of feeding for carnivorous animals. The term "BARF" stands for "bones and raw food". It refers to the raw feeding of animals such as dogs and cats. The most important ingredients in barfing dogs are meat, bones and offal. Small amounts of fruit and vegetables are also fed. As with eating in the wild, all ingredients are fed raw.

However, black cumin oil can be fed to small and large dogs as a healthy supplement not only when barfing, but also when feeding suitable dry and wet food.

Black cumin oil for horses

Pferde im Stall

Horses with sensitive skin can benefit from being fed black cumin oil. The oil supports theweakened immune system, alleviates respiratory diseases such as asthma, coughs or counteracts allergic reactions and eczema. Feeding the valuable black cumin oil has a particularly positive effect during the shedding season in spring or fall. Flies, horseflies and ticks do not like the essential oils in black cumin oil. Feeding can therefore indirectly serve as an insect repellent and contribute to the well-being of horses.

The essential fatty acids in black cumin oil can have a positive effect on the horse's metabolic processes and coat change in the event of feed-related deficiencies. At the same time, regular feeding can ensure a shiny coat. In winter, the oil can help the horse to waste less of its own fat reserves and thus maintain its body temperature better. Black cumin oil can strengthen the horse's immune system. In addition, the high mucilage content stimulates intestinal activity and can help prevent colic.

You can also try our black cumin seed press cake, which is produced when black cumin seeds are processed into black cumin oil. The pellets, which we also offer in linseed oil, milk thistle and evening primrose varieties, are a high-quality feed for horses.

Feeding recommendation

Öl auf Löffel
  • 5 ml for dogs under 5 kg
  • 10 ml for dogs over 5 kg
  • 50 - 75 ml for ponies or horses, depending on size

Black cumin oil is best absorbed when it is given over the feed or mixed into the feed. Acceptance can vary from animal to animal, as black cumin oil has a naturally bitter taste. You can simply use a teaspoon as a measure for dosing. A full teaspoon corresponds to approximately 5 ml of black cumin oil. Caution: Black cumin seed oil and black cumin seed cake are poisonous for cats as, unlike horses and dogs, they cannot completely break down bitter substances.

Our black cumin seed oil is an untreated natural product. A natural sediment, cloudiness and color changes are natural

from Jutta Bauer at 16.04.2024
from Monika Ruhland at 25.05.2022
from Sabine Vollmer at 16.06.2022
