Our freshly milled macadamia nut oil is cold-pressed from organic macadamia nuts. That preserves the valuable ingredients and the characteristic taste particularly well. Gourmets appreciate the oil rarity for its extraordinary flavour. Due to its difficult cultivation and labour intensive processing (drying for months and cracking of the especially solid shell) it is one of the most expensive nuts in the world which made it also known as the "queen of nuts". In Central Europe, macadamia nut oil is a true oil rarity. By contrast, in Australia and the US, the precious nut oil is much appreciated and more common. For the mild taste of this oil, we use unroasted virgin macadamia nuts.
Origin
Macadamia is a member of the Proteaceae family. It is known for its aromatic nut, the macadamia nut of the Macadamia integrifolia and Macadamia tetraphylla varieties. It orginates from Queensland in eastern Australia. Nowadays, macadamia trees can also be found in African countries, South America and the US.
By the way: The "queen of nuts" was named after the Australian Dr. John MacAdam, who discovered the macadamia nut in his home country together with the German botanist Ferdinand von Mueller back in 1857.
Macadamia nut oil in the kitchen
With its elegant, finely balanced nut taste, macadamia nut oil is perfect for salads, dips and desserts alike. Gorumets also use the precious oil for short frying of meat and fish. However, it should only be heated moderately and briefly to preserve the fine nut aroma.
For salad dressings with macadamia nut oil, we recommend to pair it with mild, sweet vinegars or a squirt of lime juice which creates a fruity acidity. Furthermore, the precious nut oil refines desserts, yogurt or muesli. Macadamia nut oil turns almost any dish into an extraordinary culinary experience.
Macadamia nut oil for skin and hair care
Next to its use as edible oil, macadamia nut oil is also ideally suited as rich care for dry or brittle skin. It can be applied directly to the skin or mixed with day cream or body lotion. Moreover, macadamia nut oil moisturises the hair and is a remedy for dry ends.
Usage
Our macadamia nut oil refines salads in combination with mild, sweet vinegars or fresh lime juice. It adds a special nutty aroma to desserts, yogurt and muesli. The nut oil is also suitable for brief short frying over moderate heat.
Macadamia nut oil can also be used as face or body oil. It is popular for massages because it absorbs slowly, creates a smooth skin feel and protects the skin from drying out. Suitable for hair care.
