Coconut flour partly deoiled
Coconut flour is produced from fresh coconut flesh which is gently dried, deoiled and finely ground. It still contains approximately 12 g per 100 g coconut oil together with vegetable protein and approximately 38 g per 100 g dietary fibre.
Freshly harvested coconuts are finely rasped and then gently dried. This way, the authentic coconut aroma as well as the natural vitamins and minerals are maintained.
Our organic coconut butter is a sweet, soft-melting spread with the aroma of coconuts. For the exotic spread, we gently ground the flesh of organically grown coconuts which are dried and slightly de-oiled. The flesh of the coconut gives the coconut butter a smooth sweet taste. We do not add sugar, sweeteners or other substances. Organic coconut butter is 100 % vegan, lactose- and gluten-free.
The difference between coconut butter and coconut oil
Coconut butter is not to be confused with coconut oil: We often call our coconut butter "the whole coconut in a jar" because next to the fat, it also contains the other ingredients of the coconut. Coconut butter refers to the ground pulp, while coconut oil is pressed from the flesh. The difference in production also influences various other properties: Coconut oil has a mild nutty taste and an oily consistency, while coconut butter is noticeably sweeter and creamier. Other than coconut butter, coconut oil is heat-resistant and therefore ideal for cooking and frying.
Organic coconut butter in the kitchen
If you would like to use coconut butter as a spread, we recommend to store it outside the fridge, at room temperature. Coconut butter is liquid from 24 °C. As we do not use stabilisators for the product, a fat film might form on the surface when it becomes liquid. In order to melt coconut butter, you can simply put the it in a hot water bath.
Apart from its use as a spread, our coconut butter is perfect for Asian dishes like vegetable pans, fish, meat and poultry dishes from the wok. It is also ideal for desserts or fine pastries, smoothies or cocktails. Only one teaspoon adds the sweet aroma of coconuts to your dish. Coconut butter is not suitable for frying.
