An important milestone in your baby's development is the introduction of complementary foods. As soon as your baby eats fruit or vegetable purees in addition to breast milk or formula, this stage begins.
Our organic baby food oil is made from gently cold-pressed camelina oil and canola oil. It has a mild taste, is a valuable addition to the daily diet and is ideal for starting complementary feeding from 5 months.
The valuable oil blend has a high content of Omega 3 fatty acids and a balanced ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 fatty acids. These are essential fatty acids for the body and must be obtained from food. These fatty acids are necessary for healthy growth and development.
To avoid damaging the valuable ingredients, baby food oil should not be heated to high temperatures when preparing porridge. Ideally, the oil should be stirred into the lukewarm pap. The complementary oil in the pap acts as a flavour carrier and improves the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins E, D, K and A. About one teaspoon (5 g) of oil is added per 100 g of pap.
Camelina oil with omega 3 fatty acids
The Organic Camelina Oil is cold-pressed from freshly milled camelina seeds. The oil is characterised by its high content of omega-3 fatty acids, around 40 g per 100 g. It is an excellent source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). ALA is one of the main omega-3 fatty acids needed by the body. ALA is also found in other plant-based foods such as our flaxseed oil, walnut oil and hempseed oil.
Camelina oil is vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free. Due to its name, flaxseed oil is often confused with linseed oil, but the two oils come from different plants. While flax is a member of the flax family, camelina is a member of the cruciferous family. The two oils also have different tastes: Linseed oil has a nutty, mild taste, while camelina oil has a vegetable, pea-like taste, making it an excellent dietary supplement.

Canola seed oil from peeled organic canola
Canola seed oil is obtained by cold-pressing hulled organic canola seeds. The black husks of the rapeseed are first separated from the rapeseed core, while the entire rapeseed is pressed to make rapeseed oil. It also has a milder taste than rapeseed oil. It is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, particularly oleic acid. It also has a balanced ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 essential fatty acids.
The combination of camelina oil and rapeseed oil gives an ideal ratio of fatty acids and a mild taste, making it ideal for use in baby food.
Usage
The complementary food oil is suitable as an addition to vegetable and fruit meals and as an additive for baby jars without sufficient fat ingredients. We recommend adding one teaspoon (5 g) of complementary food oil per 100 g of porridge.
