Our organic complementary food oil consists of gently cold-pressed camelina oil and canola seed oil.

The introduction of complementary foods is an important milestone in the development of babies. This period begins as soon as your child eats fruit or vegetable purees in addition to breast milk or infant formula.

Our organic complementary food oil consists of gently cold-pressed camelina oil and canola seed oil. It is characterized by a mild taste, is a valuable addition to the daily diet and is ideally suited for the start of the complementary food period, from the 5th month of life.

The valuable oil blend has a high content of omega-3 fatty acids and a balanced ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids. These are so-called essential fatty acids for the body and must be ingested through food. The fatty acids are required for healthy growth and development.

When preparing porridge, baby food oil should not be heated to high temperatures to avoid damaging the valuable ingredients. Ideally, the oil should be stirred into the lukewarm porridge. The complementary food oil in the porridge serves as a flavor carrier and improves the absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins E, D, K and A. Approximately one teaspoon of oil (5 grams) is added per 100 grams of porridge.

Camelina oil with omega 3 fatty acids

The organic camelina oil in raw food quality is cold-pressed fresh from the mill from camelina seeds. The oil is characterized by its high content of omega-3 fatty acids of around 40 g per 100 g. It is an excellent source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). ALA is one of the most important omega-3 fatty acids that the body needs. ALA is found in other plant-based foods, such as our flaxseed oil, walnut oil and hemp seed oil.

Camelina oil is vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free. Because of its name, camelina oil is often confused with linseed oil, but the two oils originate from different plants. While the flax plant belongs to the flax family, camelina belongs to the cruciferous family. The two oils also differ in taste: the taste of linseed oil is nutty and mild, while camelina oil has a vegetable-like, pea-like taste and is therefore particularly suitable as a complementary food oil.

The complementary food oil is perfect for vegetable and fruit purées.

Canola seed oil from peeled organic canola

Canola seed oil is obtained from peeled organic canola seed by cold pressing. The black hulls of the canola seed are separated from the canola seed kernel beforehand, while the entire canola seed is pressed during the production of canola oil. Canola seed oil also has a milder taste compared to canola oil. It is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, especially oleic acid. It also has a balanced ratio of essential omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids.

The combination of camelina oil and canola seed oil results in an ideal fatty acid ratio and a mild taste, perfect as an ingredient in baby porridge.

Usage

The complementary food oil is suitable as an addition to vegetable and fruit meals and as an additive for baby jars without sufficient fat ingredients. We recommend adding one teaspoon (5 g) of complementary food oil per 100 g of porridge.
