Our organic cold-pressed peanut oil is an edile oil with the characteristic sweet-mild peanut taste. It has a light yellow colour. When used for frying, peanut oil emits the pleasant aroma of roasted peanuts. If you store peanut oil at temperatures below 10 °C, it becomes opaque. Therefore, it should not be kept in the fridge. For our virgin peanut oil, we use unroasted nuts. This leads to a milder flavour. Peanut oil is ideally suited for high-temperature cooking.
Origin
Peanuts actually originate from the Andes in South America but with the growing demand for the oil crop, the cultivation areas have expanded to almost the entire tropics and subtropics today. The peanut is a legume and grows on bush-like plants with a heigt of around 60 cm. Peanuts are autoflowering plants. The pegs grow into the soil and the peanut fruit with the seeds develops at the tip of the peg. The seeds are oval-shaped, around 5 mm thick and 1 cm long.
Peanut oil for cooking
The combination of fatty acids in virgin peanut oil makes it suitable for moderate and high-temperature cooking. This makes it ideal as frying oil for Asian dishes or wok cooking. The mild taste of our cold-pressed peanut oil pairs well with vegetable or meat dishes. Next to frying and steaming, peanut oil can also be used for preparing dips. It contains approximately 22 mg vitamin E per 100 ml.
Peanut oil for skin care
With its mild fragrance, virgin peanut oil is also popular in skin care. It can be applied directly to the skin or be added to your face and body cream. Peanut oil regulates the moisture balance of the skin and helps it to stay moisturised for a long period of time.
Usage
Peanut oil is ideal for cooking at moderate and high temperatures. In Asia, it is popular as wok oil for steaming, cooking and deep-frying. The characteristic nutty, yet mild taste of cold-pressed peanut oil is perfect for Asian vegetable and meat dishes.
