Our Pumpkin Seed Coconut Spread is a purely vegetable spread made from roasted pumpkin seed oil and virgin organic coconut oil. The roasted pumpkin seeds are organically grown in Styria, Austria. Both oils are cold pressed and blended into this delicious pumpkin seed and coconut spread. It is spreadable like butter or margarine when well chilled. The polyunsaturated fatty acids in the cold-pressed pumpkin seed oil complement the saturated fatty acids in the virgin coconut oil.
With precious organic coconut oil
Precious coconut oil is not only of the highest quality in terms of taste, it also has impressive nutritional values: although coconut oil is high in saturated fatty acids, it is a special type of fatty acid. Most of the oil is made up of medium-chain fatty acids known as MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides), such as lauric acid. This lauric acid, which makes up almost half of the fatty acids in coconut oil, is an important component of breast milk. Combined with a varied diet, organic coconut oil makes an important contribution to a balanced diet.
Storage and shelf life
In Pumpkin Seed Coconut Spread, the otherwise liquid pumpkin seed oil is embedded in a solid, spreadable vegetable fat (virgin coconut fat). This allows the pumpkin seed oil to retain its beneficial nutritional properties. Pumpkin Seed Coconut Spread can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 12 months. The shelf life of pumpkin seed coconut spread is slightly affected if the oil is kept warm for a long time and exposed to sunlight at the same time. The spread will become liquid. Return the jar to a cool place, such as the fridge, and it will solidify again, but will still be spreadable. The recommended storage temperature for Pumpkin Seed Coconut Spread is around 8°C (refrigerator). At this temperature it can be spread like butter or margarine. At temperatures below 8°C, the pumpkin seed coconut spread becomes hard and cannot be spread easily on bread.
Usage
Thanks to the blend of coconut oil and pumpkin seed oil, our vegan pumpkin seed coconut spread is spreadable when stored in the fridge. It can be used on its own on bread and baguettes or as a butter substitute on cheese and other cold cuts.
