Our organic chia seed oil is gently cold-pressed fresh from the mill in our oil mill from organically grown chia seeds. The golden yellow oil with a mild flavor is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and contains around 60 g of omega-3 fatty acids per 100 g. (For comparison: organic linseed oil contains around 50 g per 100 g of omega-3 fatty acids.) Chia seed oil is therefore an alternative to linseed oil and can also be used for skin care. It has a very mild taste and should always be used cold to protect the unsaturated fatty acids.

Valuable omega-3 fatty acids

Chia seeds contain a high level of omega-3 fatty acids, also known as alpha-linolenic acid - or ALA for short. This essential fatty acid contributes to the maintenance of normal cholesterol levels. The positive effect is achieved with a daily intake of 2 g ALA, which corresponds to 11 g of chia seeds.

Origin and history

The seeds of the chia plant were already valued by the Aztecs, Mayas and Incas in Central and South America as a nutrient-rich source of energy and were considered a staple food and remedy in one. The word "chia", which comes from the Mayan language, also means "strength". In Germany and Europe, the small, black, South American seeds have become indispensable and are a common ingredient in breakfast muesli and baking.

Valuable and versatile

Chia seeds, like chia seed flour, are rich in protein, valuable fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and fiber. At Ölmühle Solling, the valuable oil from organic chia seeds is gently cold-pressed fresh from the mill. It is golden yellow in color, has a slightly nutty aroma and contains around 60 g of omega-3 fatty acids per 100 g.
